PC starts up and runs Faster 2010-05-07 My 2005 PC was taking forever to boot and after all those windows updates over the many years, was struggling to respond properly. It had only 512MB of Kingston memory with VIA mo-bo and Sempron 3000 processor. Bought this 1MB card to replace the old Kingston 512MB card, but was pleased to see that the ByteStor worked fine together with the old Kingston card. Placed the ByteStor 1MB in slot 1 and the Kingston in Slot 2, and now i have 1.5MB SDRAM. Took me longer to get the 2 retaining screws back on the PC cover than it did to install the memory. PC now boots much quicker and responds much faster. Now runs Browser, Outlook, and Office apps happily together. Recommended.
ByteStor 1GB PC2100 DDR 266MHz for Desktops 2009-12-01 Worked Perfecty but also it fitted much better than the cheap existing RAM - Why because the circuit board on the ByteStor was thicker and therefore fitted snugly into the slot. The existing ram circuit board was thinner and wobbled in the slot, causing a failure to be recognised when booting up. Top Marks for the ByeStor.
Good value 2009-05-10 Ordered 2 1GB RAM ... shipped when stocks available (about 2 weeks between). RAM works & good value. Unfortunately motherboard does not cope with 2GB RAM as the motherboard manufacturer claims ! But I do have 1.25GB working rather than the original 512MB ...
Maybe Cheap But It Helps 2009-03-28 If Amazon will post this to help people with memory & upgrade decisions..... I bought this brand for a old-ish PC last week and it's not bad I had just upgraded practically everything in an old eMachines 370 Desktop PC processor added a graphics card upgraded the HDD even changed the thermal paste on the CPU. Memory was lacking so with 14yrs in the building side of PC's my exp with XP and VISTA I installed XP and upgraded the RAM as always XP at 1GB runs like a breeze I will be maximizing it's RAM to 2gb for even better performance. For people woundering what to get here's my tips if you can find out the max memory the system can have then go for it For Windows XP 1GB is the decent spot 2GB is the sweet spot but anything higher is extra for games and stuff must note thou. Win XP Home Or Pro 32bit will see 4GB RAM but in the OS it will show up as 3GB the system reserves 1GB for it's self sometimes just 512mb so it may show 3.5GB. If you want to use more than 4GB of RAM then the 64bit varient is needed again must use a 64bit processor either INTEL Pentium 4 above or AMD 64. For Windows VISTA 2GB DDR is the decent spot but 4GB is the sweet spot the 32bit varient supports 4GB with no problems out the box I think it supports upto 8GB max while the 64Bit supports loads more VISTA loads everything into memory at the start for quicker performance but many class this as a resource hog as they say why buy memory if it aint being used. Get away from onboard graphics if you can buy a graphics card especially for Windows VISTA onboard uses system RAM and the CPU for calculations buying a card gives you so many benifits. 1) Gives back the memory it usues to your system. 2) Does not use the CPU for games as well as moving the overall system along e.g OP system and onboard sound as it has it's own processor the GPU. 3) Like the GPU has it's own memory to use no system hogging required buying a card with 256mb GDDR3 is the best of the best its the fast varient memory there's GDDR4/5 cards out but thats extra headroom for demanding games. If you want decent detail and good framerates buy a 512mb GDDR4 card vairent if you can but GDDR3 is just as good. Hopefully Amazon will post this I wish they would make a suggestions section for PC stuff would be great to offer tips.
Works perfectly 2009-02-11 Wasn't sure at all about upgrading as I had thoughts of it not working and ruining the PC. However I bit the bullet as my son's PC really needed a boost - he only had 512mb. I needn't have worried - I slotted in this kit along side the existing memory and it was picked up immediately. It's been in for a month now with no problems at all. Brilliant memory for the price. In fact I'm going to buy another for my PC and give mine the lift it needs.
